Reception to recognize outgoing county titleholders Herald-Banner Staff GREENVILLE - Just 24 hours before they crown their successors, Miss Hunt County 2008 Faith Bates and Miss Teen Hunt County Kaitlyn Wilson 2008 will be recognized at a Friday reception, sponsored by Hunt Regional Medical Center and the Greenville Chamber of Commerce. The reception, open to the public, is set for 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in the Weaver Conference Room, located on the first floor of the new west wing of the medical center. "This is a way of showing the county's appreciation for a job well done by Faith and Kaitlyn," said Melva Geyer, "They represented us well." The 2009 Miss and Miss Teen Hunt County Pageant is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Memorial Student Center American Ballroom on the Texas A&M University-Commerce. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 6 and under and senior citizens. Tickets will only be sold at the door on Saturday night. At the 2008 Miss Texas Pageant, Bates was named first runner-up. She was the first titleholder in the 33-year history of the local pageant not only to place in the top five and also receive double preliminary awards in talent and physical fitness in swimsuit competitions. Bates would go on to claim the overall talent, swimsuit and interview awards. In all, she received more than $12,000 in cash scholarships to the college of her choice. Wilson was the youngest of the 10 semifinalists in the 2008 Miss Teen Texas Pageant. She would place seventh overall and became the third straight county teen titleholder to place in the Top 10. She received a $500 savings bond for her placement. |
